Adoption Process
Bringing home a Rainmaker Ranch Australian Labradoodle is an exciting journey!
We’ve designed our process to ensure each puppy is matched with the right family based on temperament, preferences, and timing. Here's how it works:
1. Learn About Our Puppies
Start on our Available Puppies page. You'll find:
● Current Litters and Available Puppies
● Upcoming litters by season
● Estimated due dates and go-home timelines
● Parent photos, expected coat colors, and sizes based on DNA testing
Want to see more?
● Check out the Our Dogs page for parent profiles
● Visit Previous Puppies for previous group litter pictures.
2. Consider Your Preferences
Think about the size, coat, color, and timing that work best for your family. Most families are matched within 1–3 litters.
Note: Our master list might look long, but only a small number of families typically request any one litter—so your wait may be shorter than expected!
3. Submit an Application
Complete our Online Application.
-
Local? You're welcome to schedule a visit (after application approval and when no puppies under 6 weeks are present).
-
Out-of-state? We’re happy to share vet references and testimonials from past families.
4. Reservation Fee
Once approved, we’ll send a link to submit your non-refundable reservation fee (applied toward your final cost).
We accept:
-
Zelle
-
Paypal
-
Mailed check
Once received, you’ll be added to our master reservation list and begin receiving:
-
Monthly updates
-
Pregnancy and birth announcements
-
Short list invitations
You’ll also be able to view your list placement and update your preferences anytime. You may also select moms and this time to
be on their short lists.
5. Join the Short List
When a litter is expected:
-
We confirm pregnancy around week 4–5
-
You’ll receive an invitation to join that litter’s short list
You must respond to stay on a litter’s short list. No response = you're assumed to be waiting for a later litter.
6. Puppies Are Born!
Once the puppies arrive, we’ll send:
-
A birth announcement
-
First-week photos
-
Details on how many boys/girls and coat colors
We’ll then reach out (in list order) to confirm:
-
Gender preference
-
Color preference
-
Interest in that litter
7. Puppy Matching & Go-Home Day
At 7 weeks, we match each puppy based on:
-
Your preferences
-
Application + week 5 family profile
-
Weekly temperament evaluations
Go-home day: Puppies go home at 8 weeks.
You’ll know gender and general color prior to matching, but exact puppies are matched after week 7.
A Few Important Notes
🐶 Coat Colors Can Change
Some puppies (especially chocolate or black) lighten over time to café, lavender, or silver. This is a natural and unpredictable process.
If coat color stability is your top priority, let us know—we can guide you toward a litter where parents have historically stable colors.
🎨 Parti Patterns
We don’t place puppies based on parti markings. Temperament and gender/color preferences come first.
❤️ Temperament Comes First
Our goal is always to match each puppy with the best home based on temperament. We’ve been breeding Australian Labradoodles since 2001, with a focus on friendly, balanced, and adaptable personalities
